Dr Simon Thackray is a consultant cardiologist based at Scunthorpe hospital. He has a special interest in interventional cardiology and hypertension.
He is able to see private patients who need new consultations for chest pains and shortness of breath, and high blood pressure.

Originally from Hull, Dr Thackray did his medical training at London’s St George’s hospital before embarking on his cardiology training in Leeds and Cambridge’s Papworth hospital. He returned to Hull in 1998 and did a cardiology research degree funded by the British Heart Foundation which looked at how pacemakers affect heart function.
After this he underwent his interventional cardiology training before taking up his first consultant post in 2006 at Hull’s Castle Hill Hospital. Two years later he became the lead cardiologist, a position he held until 2014 when he left the UK to work abroad for 12 months.
While in Hull he set up one of the very first services in the UK which used a new technique called renal denervation which is a treatment for severe blood high pressure not controlled by medication.
